eligibility

  1. there should be a minimum of 7 members to start a society
  2. provide affidavits certified by a jp
  3. should have more than rs 10000.00 in the bank account to setup a society.
  4. “limited” & “society” words should be included to the proposed society name.


submission procedure
obtain application form
the applicant should obtain the application form from the information counter of the department.

working hours
department: 9:00 am – 4:30 pm : monday - friday
counter open hours : 9:00 am – 3:30 pm : monday - friday
closed on public and mercantile holidays

documents required :

  • provide affidavits certified by a jp
  • bank statement
  • two copies of constitutional society

handover application
the applicants should submit filled application along with the support documents to the information counter ( department of the registrar of companies ).

procedure
step 1 : the applicant should obtain application form and a sample affidavit form from the information counter
step 2 : the applicant has to get the application and support documents certified by a jp
step 3 : the applicant has to make a payment of rs.25 for a stamp and submit the application with support documents.
step 4 : upon receiving payment the shroff counter issues a payment receipt to the applicant
step 5 : the subject clerk ( shroff counter ) hands over the documents to the subject clerk ( societies division )
step 6 : the subject clerk checks the application and support documents.

note: if there are any mistakes or errors with relation to the submitted documents, the subject clerk informs applicants and requests him or her to rectify mistakes and resubmit immediately.

step 7 : the subject clerk submits the application and support documents to the registrar for approval
step 8 : the registrar approves the application and sends it back to the subject clerk
step 9 : the subject clerk allocates a registration number for that particular application and prepares certificate
step 10 : the applicant collects the certificate from the subject clerk

note : for a special society – 3 months. the forming of a special society will have to be approved by the ministry.
